The experts of the Stefan Batory Foundation have put together the Local Government Index in order to describe the changes in the strength of local government and its relationship with the central government. The first edition analyses data from 2014-2021 and illustrates an alarming process of centralization affecting various areas of Polish self-government. Subsequent editions will allow a systematic assessment of this sphere of life, which is of key importance for the quality of life of Polish citizens and for Polish democracy.
