The program’s goal is to increase public interest in local affairs and to encourage civic participation in public life, including an informed and responsible participation in local and parliamentary elections.

The Active Citizens Fund – National programme is one of eleven programmes run in Poland using funds from the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism (known as the Norwegian and EEA funds) 2014-2021, and one of two programmes designated to provide support for activities of social organisations.

The Citizens for Democracy programe was implemented by the Stefan Batory Foundation in partnership with the Polish Children and Youth Foundation. The programe was financed under the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (EEA Grants).
