Civil Society

A strong, stable, and independent civil society is the foundation of a democracy that is resilient to both internal and external threats. It is also a key partner in building inclusive, just, and equitable societies that ensure a sense of dignity for all. To fulfill this role, civil society actors need an open space for action that guarantees the exercise of fundamental rights and appropriate recognition and support, both public and private.

In the Civil Society program, we focus on assessing the state of civil society in Poland and Europe, observing trends that affect its functioning, and monitoring the laws and public policies that define the framework for its activities. We identify future directions for the development of civil society and events that may influence its work.

We undertake initiatives aimed at helping civil society actors respond to current challenges and future needs. We observe, evaluate, and disseminate interesting and innovative legal mechanisms, tools, and working methods used in Poland and abroad. We use the knowledge we gain to formulate and support new solutions that strengthen civil society.

One of our initiatives is the development of a foresight study on civil society in Poland.
