Program for Tolerance

Within the program we offer grants to the organizations that undertake actions to foster attitudes of tolerance and openness toward various racial, ethnic and religious differences as well as contribute to disarming prejudice and stereotypes.

We support education and cultural activities that recall history and rediscover roots of a multi-national Poland and protect a common cultural heritage, especially the heritage of Polish Jews and fund projects that oppose acts of intolerance, racism and xenophobia.

Each year we run an open grant competition offering to NGOs about 15 grants of an average value PLN 8,000. The preference is given to projects carried out outside of large cities.

Grants are made in a two-stage competition:

  • February 4 – letters of intent
  • March 4 - 3 day training for organizations invited to submit full proposal
  • April 21 – submission of proposals
  • May 31 – decision on grants

Apart from grants we offer applying organizations assistance to develop projects’ proposals, as well as opportunity to share experiences and cooperate with peer organizations. This is facilitated by our partner organization: ê Society of Creative Initiatives which organizes workshops for grantseeking organizations, administers a webpage www.dlatolerancji.pl and a discussion forum, and documents and promotes best projects funded in the program. Another program’s partner, Encounters Association for Education and Culture, is responsible for evaluation of projects and assessment of their impact on local communities.
