The project completed in 2006.

This policy project carried out since 2002 was aimed to examine relationship between Ukraine and the EU, analyze the impact of EU enlargement on these relationship and present possible strategies and concrete solutions concerning future relations between new EU and Ukraine. The project was carried out by the Batory Foundation (Warsaw) in cooperation with the International Rennaissance Foundation (Kyiv). Its participants included experts from Belgium, United Kingdom Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine and Poland.

In cooperation with Ukrainian partners as well as Polish and foreign institutions we prepared a number of analyses: political, social and economic which composed a report on situation of Ukraine. The first phase of this project ended in 2004 after the EU enlargement and presidential elections in Ukraine with the publication of: More than Neighbours. The Enlarged European Union and Ukraine – New Relations. Final Report [PDF 1 033 KB] and More than Neighbours. The Enlarged European Union and Ukraine – New Relations. Policy Paper [PDF 336 KB]. These publications summed up two-year work of experts, and include recommendations and propositions on the relations between enlarged EU and Ukraine.

In 2005 we published three further reports: Will the Orange Revolution bear fruit? EU-Ukraine relations in 2005 and the beginning of 2006 [PDF 381 KB], and How to make a difference? EU-Ukrainian negotiations on facilitation of visa regime [PDF 467 KB], Between contentment and disillusionment EU–Ukraine relations a year after the Orange Revolution [PDF 183 KB], which constitute a starting point for expert seminars, public meetings and presentations in Poland and abroad (see: Events).
