Presentations of Visa Policies of the European Union Member States - Monitoring Report
In cooperation with partners from the Czech Republic, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova, we organized a series of presentations of the report from monitoring EU country visa policy toward the Union’s eastern neighbors conducted in 2005. During the presentations the authors of the report enumerated difficulties faced by our eastern neighbors while applying for EU visas, such as long lines at consulates, lack of reliable information regarding visa procedures, excessive bureaucracy, delays and frequent refusals to issue visas, and formulated a set of recommendations concerning desired changes in the law and consular practices of Union members. Numerous representatives of government administrations, diplomatic and consular missions, representatives of academic centers and NGOs took part in the conferences. The presentations engendered extensive media interest, particularly in Ukraine, as reflected in press articles and television reports.

Presentations of Visa Policies of the European Union Member States - Monitoring Report
Presentation of a documentary film from Minsk and the Visa Policies of the European Union Member States — Monitoring Report (2006). During the Economic Forum in Krynica, Batory Foundation representatives (Jakub Boratyński and Anita Szymborska) presented the report on monitoring visa policies of European Union member states and a documentary film on the survey conducted among the applicants at the consulates in Minsk. Commentary to the report was provided by Henrik Lax, Deputy to the European Parliament, member of the European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs. Presentations of the results of the research and the authors’ recommendations concerning desired changes in EU member states’ visa policies stirred extensive interest among participants of Krynica Forum.
