Hearing from Europe
Warsaw, June 23rd, 2003

A debate on the future of Europe took place at the Stefan Batory Foundation on June 23, 2003. It was a part of the wider project Hearing from Europe initiated by the Brussels-based think-tank Friends of Europe. This unique event, with participation of representatives of different milieus from 28 countries of the European Convention was transmitted live online and by various European TV stations. During seven successive days – from June 23rd to 27th, at seven different debates, representatives of governments business sectors and NGOs expressed their opinions on all aspects related with the future European Constitution.
Poland took part in the first debate - with Portugal and Ireland, and was represented by the following speakers:
- Henryka Bochniarz, President of the Polish Confederation of Private Employers
- Danuta Huebner, Minister for European Affairs
- Aleksander Smolar, President of the Stefan Batory Foundation.
The discussion was moderated by Henning Tewes, Head of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Poland, our partner in this project.
Polish audience gathered in the Batory Foundation conference hall had an opportunity to pose questions to the speakers from other countries participating in the debate.
