About the Foundation

Council and Board

The Foundation is governed by the Governing Council that convenes once a year to review the Foundation's strategy. The first members of the Council were invited 12 years ago by Founder George Soros. Since then, the Council has changed several times. The Governing Council elects the Foundation Board and the Board's Chair for two year renewable terms. Both Council and Board are voluntary bodies.
